How to Write a Great Story from the heart
As Co-author of the Canadian Best Seller, Chicken Soup for the Canadian Soul, and the producer and editor of Chicken Soup for the Parent’s Soul, I’ve learned a lot about what makes a great story from the heart. We all have these special experiences inside us, but which one will make a story others will want to read? And how can we write it in such a way that it will touch the hearts of others, uplift or inspire them, and benefit their lives?
This special 3 hour skillshop, not found anywhere else, is for anyone who wants to explore this current and popular form of expression-for both experienced writers and for those who have never written before but simply want to learn how to tell their story.
Sharing our deepest heartfelt stories allows us to learn from each other, and discover that in the depths of our human experiences, we are not alone. When we share our stories, we contribute to the pool of human wisdom on the planet. In this skillshop we will explore:
· the story’s purpose,
· three critical elements that make a great story,
· topics to avoid and themes that work well,
· optimum length.
We’ll spend time in contemplation and ask our inner self to highlight a story we carry in our heart that could be shared with others.
There will be enough time for each participant to write his or her own story and for those who wish to share their story with the group. Finally, we will discuss how to fine tune and edit your story to give it that final polish, along with some suggestions as to where to send it to be considered for publication.
If you love Stories from the Heart, and have always wanted to write your own, this skillshop is for you. Copies of Chicken Soup for the Canadian Soul will be available for purchase at the end. I will autograph and personalize each copy, and add a lovely gold starburst sticker to the front identifying it as Signed by the Author. They make great gifts!
