After graduating from Ryerson University Janet spent twenty years producing fashion photography in Toronto's fast paced advertising industry - a career she loved. When it was time for a new direction, she tried a number of different things and watched as her energy and joy in life plummeted. When she was invited to produce two Chicken Soup for the Soul titles she instantly accepted!

When Jack Canfield then invited her to co-author of Chicken Soup for the Canadian Soul, she jumped at the chance to help create this unique Canadian book. Working on it became a labour of love - completing it became her dream and her passion, and it was this passion that helped her overcome the obstacles along the way. The lovely early September day in 2002 when the book was launched felt like her own equivalent of winning an Olympic gold medal. The book shot to the top of the best seller lists, and because of her dynamic interview style, Janet found herself in demand as a guest on countless radio and TV talk shows all across Canada.
